Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) Bottles
Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a packaging material used in the bottled water and other beverage and food industries. PET bottles are designed and intended for single use only. They are easy to recycle and compatible with recycling systems available across Canada. Arrowhead’s 15L PET bottles can be returned for deposit at any bottle depot throughout the province of Alberta. In British Columbia, our 15L PET bottles can be recycled through Encorp Pacific. 15L PET bottles are compatible with any water cooler used in home or office setting.
Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate bottles are commonly used in home or office water coolers. Polycarbonate bottles are designed for multiple (repeated) uses, and require proper cleaning; Polycarbonate bottles are recycled and used to make consumer products such as, automobile parts, CD’s, toys, etc. Arrowhead has two Smart Plastics shredders in our Calgary Bottling Facility. One shreds 5-gallon polycarbonate bottles and the other, plastic caps from all large format bottles. The regrind is then picked up in containers for recycling.
